Do you sometimes feel the pace and pressures of life are impacting negatively on your family?
In many ways, raising children today is far more stressful than it was just a couple of decades ago.
- Parents are often time-poor and overwhelmed.
- Our kids are suffering anxiety at unacceptably high rates.
- Our 24/7 news cycle & social media habits have created an unnatural feeling of constant change and, frankly, pressure….
So many families are struggling with stress, overload, overscheduling and disconnection. Surely there’s a better way?
Calmness CAN be learnt
This is something I have come to understand over 40 years as a teacher, counsellor, resilience specialist and a mum of four (now adult) sons. By creating new habits and patterns in our families, our kids will feel safer, calmer, more connected and happier.
That's why I have created this course for families with children 12 and under...
What you'll learn...
Session 1: What are the biggest concerns around children today?
kick off the course by exploring the biggest stressors and concerns in
raising children today & we’ll reflect on which may be
impacting your family.
Session 2: How our stress-regulating system is formed
I’ll look at the main triggers for challenging behaviour & help you identify signs that stress is too high, and we’ll look at some ways to manage this.
Session 3: Stress, sleep & our cellular makeup
In this session, I explore how stress and sleep (or rather lack of it) affect us on so many levels – especially on how we learn and on our capacity to manage our moods. I also share some tools to soothe your children and help them sleep more soundly.
Session 4: Children's anxiety, what is it & what to do
Anxiety is the fastest-growing mental health issue in the western world. So in this session we explore what it looks like, what causes it and how can we help our children when feelings of fear and anxiety impair their wellbeing.
Session 5: Building more calmness into our lives
Do your kids know what calm means? Calmness can be learnt at any stage in life but in our busy world we can’t assume it will come naturally! In this session, we’ll talk about the simple but enormous power of play and nature in helping us have a gentler, calmer way of life.
Session 6: Staying calm amid the chaos
It’s not just our children who might feel anxious or struggle to cope. As the person/people in the household who keeps everything ticking along, it’s easy for we parents to let worries get on top of us. I’ll explore some key strategies to staying calm and compassionate, even when chaos reigns.
