Does your partner drive you nuts at home?
Do you get frustrated that s/he does parenting differently to you?
Do you wonder what on earth they are thinking sometimes?
A while back, a mum wrote to me and said: "Maggie you've
helped me understand my son better but can you please do something to help me
to understand my husband better. There's a set rhythm that works in
our house … why does he deviate from it? He is a loving, smart father and
husband... but he's driving me nuts. And
judging from some of the mums' groups I'm part of on Facebook, I don't think
I'm alone".
I have also had dads ask: “Why does cleaning and other stuff
have to be perfect? When I do it, it’s never good enough?” Or “Why can’t I
change a nappy or dress my daughter slightly differently without it being
wrong?”
So often when we become parents we start to see some big DIFFERENCES in the way we do things. I think this is particularly true of men and women who are parenting together. And I think a big reason for this is that we don't always understand how differently we can see the world.
What this webinar covers...
In this webinar, I invite you to join me as co-parents for a night on the couch to take a look at some of the reasons why mums and dads clash over parenting.
By the way, when I say “on the couch” I'm NOT talking psychotherapy. I'm talking about a light-hearted, relaxed and yet meaningful look at how to decode the art of parenting cooperatively so we really can get on the same team as parents.
We'll talk about:
- some of the key differences in how men and women generally parent due to their biology and socialisation/culture/family influences
- why differences are important and valuable in a parent team
- the importance of clarifying values and priorities
- ways to communicate about challenges that build connection rather than create conflict
- tips for getting your needs met (and keeping your relationship flourishing) in a busy life.
